ABOUT Tomato Rice Plain RECIPE

The tomato rice is slightly spicy with less amount of chilli and ginger-garlic paste.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice 2 cup
  2. Water
  3. Tomato chopped 2 cup
  4. Onion chopped 1 cup
  5. Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  6. Green chilli 1
  7. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  8. Black pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  9. Cumin seeds powder 1/2 tsp
  10. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  11. Methi seeds 1/4 tsp
  12. Cloves 3
  13. Curry leaves 1 string
  14. Cardamom powder 1/4 tsp
  15. Red chilli powder 1/4 tsp
  16. Coriander powder 1 tsp
  17. Coriander leaves chopped 1/4 cup
  18. 4 tsp cooking oil
  19. 1/4 cup groundnut
  20. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a pressure cooker, heat oil, keep the flame on low and add mustard seeds, let it crackle.
  2. Add methi seeds, lightly saute it.
  3. Then add groundnut and fry.
  4. Then add onion, green chilli, cardamom powder, cloves.
  5. Stir and saute till the onion turns translucent.
  6. Now add ginger-garlic paste, curry leaves and saute till the raw aroma goes away.
  7. Then add coriander powder and leaves .
  8. Add turmeric powder, black pepper powder, red chilli powder, chopped tomato, cumin seeds powder, saute well till soften the tomatoes.
  9. When tomatoes become pulpy with oil releasing from the sides add rice and saute for a minute.
  10. Add 3 cups of water, salt to taste, cover the lid and pressure cook in high flame for 1 whistle.
  11. Then 1 more whistle in low flame.
  12. Take off flame and allow it to pressure settles down.
  13. Then remove the lid and gently fluff the tomato rice and serve.
