SOUTH INDIAN TRADITIONAL CHUTNEY RECIPE

KARACHUTNEY / TOMATO ONION CHUTNEY

Ingredients to make KARACHUTNEY / TOMATO ONION CHUTNEY

  • onion – 2 nos (big)
  • tomato – 4 nos (medium sized)
  • garlic – 4 to 5 pods
  • Dry red chillies – 3 to 4.
  • curry leaves – a sprig.
  • coriander leaves – a bunch.
  • Gingelly oil – 2 tsp.
  • Roasted channa dal / pottu kadalai – 1 tsp
  • salt – to taste.

How to make KARACHUTNEY / TOMATO ONION CHUTNEY

  1. Chop onions , garlic and tomatoes roughly .
  2. In a kadai add oil followed by dry red chillies when chillies start roasting add onions and garlic and fry till onions turns its colour .
  3. Now add curry leaves and tomatoes and fry till tomatoes become mushy.
  4. Switch off the heat and add Roasted channa dal .
