About MADURAI TOMATO CHUTNEY Recipe

Madurai is famous for its spicy foods and chutney ! And there is no explanation needed for this chutney's spiciness and taste,name itself explains its taste : ).

MADURAI TOMATO CHUTNEY

Ingredients to make MADURAI TOMATO CHUTNEY

  • tomato – 2 nos ( big).
  • onion – 1 no ( big).
  • urad dal – 1/4 tsp.
  • curry leaves – a sprig.
  • mustard – 1/8 tsp.
  • Gingelly oil – 1 tsp.
  • salt – as required.
  • TO SAUTE AND GRIND :
  • oil – 1 tsp.
  • Dry red chillies – 2 nos.
  • onion – 1 no ( big).
  • tamarind – 1” piece – 1 no.

How to make MADURAI TOMATO CHUTNEY

  1. Chop onions , tomatoes to small pieces.
  2. Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan and fry dry red chillies till brown.Remove from pan and keep it aside.
  3. In the same pan add chopped onion and fry till translucent.
  4. Grind fried onions along with fried chillies , tamarind to fine paste.
  5. Heat gingelly oil in a pan and add mustard , when mustard splutters add urad dal , curry leaves , onions and fry till golden brown.When done add tomatoes and fry till mushy.
  6. Now add ground paste , salt ,little water as per your requirement and boil for few more mins till you reach desired consistency.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves and remove from flame . Serve hot with your favorite dish.
