Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Prawn-1/4 kg
  2. Potato- 1 cup chopped
  3. Onion-1 big chopped
  4. Green chilli-1
  5. Garlic-10-12 cloves
  6. Curry leaves- as required
  7. Tomato-1 big chopped
  8. Tamarind-1 lemon size
  9. Gingelly oil-2 tablespoons
  10. Mustard-1 spoon
  11. Fenugreek seeds-1 spoon
  12. Red chili powder-2 spoon
  13. Coriander powder-4 spoons
  14. Turmeric powder-1/2 spoon
  15. Salt -as required


  1. Wash prawns and keep it aside. Chop all the vegetables and keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a mud pot or any flat vessel fry mustard and wait till splutters.
  3. Add fenugreek seeds and fry for 1 min.
  4. Fry onion , green chili, garlic, curry leaves and fry till onion turns golden brown.
  5. Add tomatoes and sauté till turns mushy.
  6. Now add prawns and chopped potatoes.
  7. Add all spices one by one .
  8. Pour little water and boil altogether for sometime. Keep stirring at regular intervals to avoid sticking at the bottom.
  9. Once the curry starts thickening add tamarind juice.
  10. Cook till oil comes to the corner. Add chopped coriander leaves at the end.
  11. Serve hot with steamed rice
