Kunafa is an oriental dessert, which is very popular in the holy fasting month of Ramadan. It is made from noodle like pastry long threads, filled with cream and soaked in a sugar syrup. There are many ways to do it. Im doing an easy recipe which is best and tastes delicious. Lets begin to make this yummy dessert.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 200 gm Kunafa pastry
  2. 100 gm melted butter
  3. 1 tsp sugar
  4. 1 tsp vanilla essence
  5. 1 tbs coarsely ground pistachios
  6. For cream 1 cup milk
  7. 1 tbsp cornstarch dissolved in 2 tbsp milk
  8. 1 tsp vanilla essence
  9. 1 tbsp sugar
  10. For sugar syrup 1/2 cup sugar
  11. 1/2 water


  1. For sugar syrup- In a medium saucepan combine sugar and water. Let it boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Keep aside to cool.
  2. For cream-In a pan, add milk and sugar together. Let it come to a boil. Add cornstarch mixture to the milk and keep stirring, till the mixture get thickens, then remove from the heat. Add vanilla essence and keep aside to cool.
  3. For kunafa-Cut the kunafa thread into small pieces with hands.
  4. Pour melted butter, 1tsp sugar and vanilla essence over the kunafa threads and mix well with your hands.
  5. Put half of the kunafa in the cake form and press well with your fingers.
  6. Spread the cream over the kunafa as shown in picture and add the other half of kunafa over the cream.
  7. Now bake the kunafa in a preheated oven 180, for 20 minutes or until it turn golden on top.
  8. Take out kunafa from oven and after 10 minutes, flip it in plate.
  9. Now pour cooled sugar syrup on the hot kunafa and leave it for 7 to 8 minutes to absorb it all. Now garnish it with crushed pistachios and serve hot....Enjoy
