Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Basmati rice 1 cup
  2. Ghee 5 spoons
  3. Onion 2 nos chopped
  4. Green chilli 2 nos
  5. Ginger 1 inch grated
  6. Salt as per taste
  7. Spices like biryani leaf, cloves, cardamom, star, etc
  8. Water
  9. Cashew nut few nos fried in ghee
  10. Dry raisins is optional


  1. Wash and soak basmati rice for 20 mins.
  2. Meanwhile fry the cashews and raisins in ghee and keep aside.
  3. On the heavy bottom pan add 2 spoons of ghee and add onion, green chillies, ginger and spices.
  4. Fry till the raw smell goes out.
  5. Now, drain the water and add the basmati rice into the pan and mix it well for 2 mins.
  6. Now, for 1 cup of rice add 1.5 cups of water. This is usual measure, but water level may vary according to the brand of rice used.
  7. At this stage add salt for the recipe and check the taste.
  8. You can do open cooking itself, after 10 mins the rice is ready.
  9. At last add fried cashews and raisins.
  10. If you wish add fried onions too.
  11. Finally add some ghee and serve hot.
