Ghee rice is one dish which makes its accompaniments tastier. With the right mix of flavours, Ghee rice has always been everyone's favourite. This recipe by Latha Nair is the perfect one to try at home for your family. The Ghee rice recipe is very simple and can be made in restaurant style using these ingredients. The time taken while preparing Ghee rice is 8 minutes and the time taken for cooking is 25 minutes. This is recipe of Ghee rice is perfect to serve 2 people. Ghee rice

Ingredients to make Ghee rice

  • jeera rice or basmati rice 1 cup(wash & soak for min 30 min)
  • ghee 4 tbsp
  • onion big 2
  • Crush these 3 items
  • (Small onion 5
  • ginger 1/4 inch piece
  • garlic 5 small)
  • coconut Milk 1 Cup
  • water 1 cup
  • salt

How to make Ghee rice

  1. In a non sticky pan. Heat 2 tsp ghee.
  2. Add sliced onion.fry till done.then ,add crushed small onion,ginger & garlic. Fry for 2,3 min,until the raw taste goes.
  3. Then put soaked rice .fry for another 3,4 min.
  4. Then add coconut milk & water. Add salt. Cook on low flame for 10 min,covering.
  5. Then remove cover & keep stirring till all liquid evaporates. Leave it like that for sometime.
  6. When it cools down stir well till each grain seperates.
  7. In a small patake 2tsp of ghee,fry one more onion,till brown.then add cashew,fry & add both to the rice along with some fried ghee. U can add kismis or any nuts,with this rice.

My Tip:

This can b easily cooked in rice cooker. After frying rice,along with other ingredients, remove to rice cooker .add coconut milk & water.with salt. This can b easily done. Instead of 1 cup water,if u take sec coconut milk ,just add it. It s also tasty.
