ABOUT Mithha khechudi RECIPE

Traditional odia khichdi made on special days. Very few ingredients and easy to cook but satisfying and delicious .

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup basmati rice or any raw variety aged rice
  2. 2 tbsp ghee
  3. 1/2 cup raw moong dal
  4. 3/4 cup sugar
  5. 1/2 cup scraped coconut
  6. 2 tejpatta
  7. A dash of salt
  8. 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and moong dal.keep aside.
  2. If using basmati rice then soak for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat ghee in a heavy buttom pan.add tajpatta.
  4. Add rice and moong dal.
  5. Saute for 1 minute . Take care not to break the rice grains.
  6. Add water.stir once.
  7. Now add sugar,pinch of salt and coconut.
  8. Stir well and cover.
  9. Cook covered till rice is done.
  10. Check in between and stir occasionally with light hand.
  11. When rice is done and aroma comes switch off and let it remain covered for 10 more minutes.
  12. Serve hot with coconut raita,and any spicy curry of your choice.
  13. I like to have it without any curry.
