ABOUT Authentic Chicken Masala RECIPE

The most traditional fragrance which still lingers around while making this dish and always feel my Mom around me, guiding me to make it the right way.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 3 medium sized onions
  2. 2 large potatoes
  3. 2 large tomatoes
  4. 700gm chicken cut into medium pieces
  5. 1 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  6. 2nos tejpata
  7. 1tsp turmeric
  8. 50gms curd
  9. 1 tsp poppy seed
  10. 1/2 tsp kasuri methi
  11. A pinch sugar
  12. 1 1/2 tbsp oil
  13. Coriander leaves for garnishing
  14. 3-4 laung
  15. 4-5 black pepper
  16. 2 black elaichi
  17. 3 green elaichi
  18. 2 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
  19. 1 tbsp coriander powder
  20. 1 1/2 tbsp garam masala powder
  21. salt to taste
  22. 1 1/2 tbsp cashew paste
  23. 3-4 tbsp coconut powder
  24. 1/4 tsp saunf

Instructions

  1. Roast whole onions, clean and grind to a paste.
  2. Grind tomatoes and cashew paste.
  3. Roast poppy seed, saunf and coconut powder and dry grind.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, caramalise sugar, add grinded onion n fry till brown in colour.
  5. Add ginger- garlic paste, add tomatoes n cashew paste and roast well.
  6. Add tumeric, chilly powder, coriander powder....fry well.
  7. Add curd, mix well with all the masalas.
  8. Add washed chicken and stir fry for 7-8mins. Add salt. 1/2 of the garam masala powder. Mix all well.
  9. Add warm water as per the gravy you want.
  10. When a boil comes, add potatoes. Cover with lid n continue cooking till chicken n potatoes are well cooked on medium flame for 25mins.
  11. Open lid and add the dry coconut masala and kasuri methi. N the remaining garam masala. Mix it well. Cook it for 2 mins.Garnish with coriander.
  12. Serve with chappati and rice.
