Authentic Chicken Masala

Ingredients to make Authentic Chicken Masala

  • 3 medium sized onions
  • 2 large potatoes
  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 700gm chicken cut into medium pieces
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2nos tejpata
  • 1tsp turmeric
  • 50gms curd
  • 1 tsp poppy seed
  • 1/2 tsp kasuri methi
  • A pinch sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp oil
  • coriander leaves for garnishing
  • 3-4 laung
  • 4-5 black pepper
  • 2 black elaichi
  • 3 green elaichi
  • 2 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp garam masala powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cashew paste
  • 3-4 tbsp coconut powder
  • 1/4 tsp saunf

How to make Authentic Chicken Masala

  1. Roast whole onions, clean and grind to a paste.
  2. Grind tomatoes and cashew paste.
  3. Roast poppy seed, saunf and coconut powder and dry grind.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, caramalise sugar, add grinded onion n fry till brown in colour.
  5. Add ginger- garlic paste, add tomatoes n cashew paste and roast well.
  6. Add tumeric, chilly powder, coriander powder....fry well.
  7. Add curd, mix well with all the masalas.
  8. Add washed chicken and stir fry for 7-8mins. Add salt. 1/2 of the garam masala powder. Mix all well.
  9. Add warm water as per the gravy you want.
  10. When a boil comes, add potatoes. Cover with lid n continue cooking till chicken n potatoes are well cooked on medium flame for 25mins.
  11. Open lid and add the dry coconut masala and kasuri methi. N the remaining garam masala. Mix it well. Cook it for 2 mins.Garnish with coriander.
  12. Serve with chappati and rice.
