Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 tsp oil
  2. 1 tbsp urad dal
  3. 1 Tbsp Chana dal
  4. 3 dried red chilli
  5. 1/2 Onion chopped
  6. 2 cloves garlic
  7. 1 tomato Finley chopped
  8. Tamarind small piece
  9. 3 tbsp water
  10. 1/2 tsp Salt
  11. For tempering
  12. 1 tsp oil
  13. 3/4 Mustard seeds
  14. few curry leaves
  15. 1/2 tsp Urad dal


  1. Firstly take all ingredients to plate.
  2. Heat the oil in pan and add urad daal chana daal garlic and red chilli saute well. Fry until daal changes golden brown colour.
  3. Next add chopped Onion saute Onion shrink and changes to colour
  4. When Onion is fried then add chopped tomato and mix well the tomato turns soft and mushy till saute
  5. Cool the mixture completely and transfer to the blender.and blend to smooth paste.
  6. Grinded mixture paste Transfer to the bowl .and for tempering add oil, mustard, urad daal, curry leaves splutter then pour on the chutney
  7. Finally Kara chutney is ready to serve.with dosa, idli, chapati etc
