it is a traditional Bengali chutney prepared specially in festive occasions and marriages

Bengali raw papaya chutney

Ingredients to make Bengali raw papaya chutney

  • raw papaya sliced 1 cup
  • sugar 1 1/2 cup
  • juice of 1 big lemon
  • raisin 1 tablespoon
  • Bengali 5 spices mix( panchphoron) 1 teaspoon
  • oil 1 tablespoon
  • moida 1 tablespoon
  • pinch of salt and turmeric powder

How to make Bengali raw papaya chutney

  1. cut raw papaya into thin slices.
  2. boil them till they are half cooked.
  3. heat oil . add panchphoron. fry a little
  4. add half cooked papaya. add salt and turmeric powder.
  5. add sugar
  6. add water and let them cook
  7. add lemon juice and raisin.
  8. add moida slurry for thickening the gravy. raw papaya chutney is ready.

Cut papaya in thin slices
