ABOUT Bombay Chutney RECIPE

Bombay chutney is a South Indian equivalent of pitla made in Maharastra it is very easy to make and tasty

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 red onions
  2. 2 tomatoes
  3. 3-4 large green chillies
  4. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  5. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  6. 1 spoon head dal
  7. 1 sooon Chana dal
  8. 3-4 spoons oil
  9. Juice of 1 lime
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 1 pinch Asafoetida
  12. half cup chopped coriander leaves
  13. 3 cups water
  14. 2-3 spoons Besan

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan and add oil, add the mustard seeds and cumin
  2. When this splutters add the Urad and channa dal
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes and chopped onions and add salt
  4. Add the green chillies
  5. Add 2 cups water and let this cook well
  6. Take a cup add the besan and mix well with one cup water
  7. Add to the tomato and onion mixture and let this cook for 5 minutes
  8. Add lime and chopped coriander leaves
  9. Serve with gobi paratha or Chapathi
