About Shengole Recipe

Shengole is a really tasty and healthy dish.It is a winter special dish of Maharashtra.You con have it as a main course.

Ingredients to make Shengole

  • 1/2 cup Jawar flour
  • 1/2 cup Wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp besan
  • 1/4 tsp Carom seeds
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic and green chilli paste (9 - 10 garlic cloves and 2 chilli)
  • coriander leaves finely chopped 3 tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • For Gravy
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  • cumin seede 1/2 tsp
  • asafoetida a painch
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 3 Glass water (600 ml)
  • salt to taste
  • coriander leaves finely choppd 2 tbsp

How to make Shengole

  1. In a dish take 1/2 cup Jawar flour,1/2 Wheat flour,1 tbsp Besan,1/4 tso carom seeds,1/4 tsp turmeric powder,1 tbsp Garlic and green chilli paste and salt to taste.Mix them well.
  2. Now add 3 tbsp chopped coriander leaves.Mix and add a little water at a time and knead thick dough.
  3. Transfer the dough into a bowl,cover and let it rest for abour 10 minutes.
  4. Now heat up oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds 1/2 tsp,cumin seeds 1/2 tsp and let them sizzle up.
  5. Add Asafoetida.Reduce the heat to low.
  6. Now add Garlic paste and saute till fragrant.
  7. Add Kashmiri red chilli powder,red chilli power.Mix well and fry for a minute.and add 3 glass water and salt to taste.let the gravy boil nicely.
  8. Take one samll boll of dough roll it into Shengoli.Fold in the center and seal both the ends together.You can make thick or thin Shengole as per your choice.
  9. When all Shengole are ready drop them into boiling gravy.
  10. Mix once lightly.Cover and cook on medium heat for 15 - 20 minutes.
  11. After 20 minutes of the gas.And sprinkle 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves.Now Shengole are ready.
  12. Serve this with papad,chopped onion and lemon.

My Tip:

Don't make the dough too thin.Let it be thick only.
