Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Fresh crabs - 10
  2. onion - 1
  3. Turmeric - 1tsp
  4. Chilli powder - 3 tsps
  5. Small lemon sized ball of tamarind
  6. Whole spices garam masala :
  7. 4 cloves
  8. 6 peppercorns
  9. 1 badi elaichi
  10. 4 choti elaichi
  11. 1 tsp dhania jeera powder
  12. 1 small cardamom stick
  13. bit of nutmeg
  14. small star ainse flower

Instructions

  1. Wash the crabs and keep aside.
  2. Soak the tamarind in some water.
  3. Now Take a large bowl
  4. Add the squeezed tamarind pulp to the bowl
  5. Now add the spices one by one
  6. First goes the red chilli powder
  7. Then the turmeric
  8. Then the finely ground whole spice masala
  9. Now the chopped onion
  10. Salt to taste
  11. A teaspoonful of oil
  12. Mix the masala well
  13. Now add the crabs and gently mix so that all get coated well
  14. Now cover and keep in the fridge for half an hour
  15. Take a flat pan add some oil
  16. Now place the crabs neatly to get evenly cooked
  17. Once dry on one side flip to the other side
  18. Add some more oil
  19. Roast till done on low or medium heat
  20. Have it with hot steamed rice.
