Sweet idli made of Jaggery and Jackfruit.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Jackfruit peeled pieces 15
  2. Raw rice 1 cup
  3. jaggery 8 pieces
  4. cardamom 1 tsp
  5. salt to taste
  6. Grated coconut 1 cup


  1. Take a mixer. Grind powdered jaggery and coconut. Do not add any water while grinding. If required you may add very little water.
  2. Soak raw rice for 1 hour.
  3. Once coconut-jaggery mixture is done then add chopped jackfruit pieces and salt to it and grind again. Grind to a fine paste. Add water little by little.
  4. Add drained raw rice to the mixture and grind it coarsely.
  5. Transfer the batter to a bowl and add cardamom powder. Batter consistency should be that of idli batter.
  6. Take a steamer and add water to it. Once it boils, grease idli moulds with little ghee and pour the batter. Steam for 15 minutes.
  7. Prick a knife to check if the idli is done. If it comes out clean, then idli is done.
  8. Serve hot with butter.
