About Kaskaas pinni (poppy seeds, khus khus) Recipe

These pinni specially prepared in Punjabi families during winter, it is very beneficial for health.

Kaskaas pinni (poppy seeds, khus khus)

Ingredients to make Kaskaas pinni (poppy seeds, khus khus)

  • 250 gm poppy seeds
  • 500 gm wheat flour
  • 100 gm almonds
  • 100 gm cashews
  • 300 gm mawa
  • 250 gm dried coconut
  • 350 gm jaggery
  • 250 gm clarified butter / ghee
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/2 cup water

How to make Kaskaas pinni (poppy seeds, khus khus)

  1. Soak the poppy seeds overnight, strain the water and grind it.
  2. In heavy bottom kadahi add 1/2 cup ghee and roast the wheat flour till brown on low flame.
  3. Fry the cashew and almonds in ghee and grind into powder
  4. Roast the Mawa till brown
  5. Roast the poppy seeds paste in 1/4 cup ghee on low flame.and take out in a bowl
  6. Add jaggery and 1/2 cup water and boil it till the jaggery melt.
  7. In a broad vessel add roasted wheat flour, cashew and almonds powder, roasted Mawa, roasted descicated coconut, roasted poppy seeds paste and cardamom powder. Strain the jaggery syrup in it.
  8. Mix everything really well. Make the pinni and garnish with cashews.

My Tip:

Roast everything on low flame and don't over cook the jaggery syrup.
