About MORU CURRY Recipe

An easy and quick traditional south Indian curry recipe made with curd or buttermilk and spices. It can be made with or without coconut. Here is how to make it without coconut.

MORU CURRY

Ingredients to make MORU CURRY

  • 1. curd  -  2 cup
  • 2. water  -  1 cup
  • 3. turmeric powder  - 1/4 tspn + 2 pinches
  • 4. Small onions  -  2
  • 5. ginger  -  small pieces
  • 6. garlic  - 1
  • 7. Green chilli  - 2
  • 8. curry leaves
  • 9. coconut oil  -  2 tbspn
  • 10. salt
  • 11. mustard seeds  -  1/2 tspn
  • 12. fenugreek seeds  -  a pinch
  • 13. Dry red chilli  -  2
  • 14. chilli powder  -  1/4 tspn

How to make MORU CURRY

  1. Whisk curd with 1 cup water to form buttermilk.
  2. In a large kadai, heat 1 tbspn coconut oil, add small onion, ginger, garlic, 1 greenchilli and curry leaves. Saute for few seconds.
  3. Add turmeric powder and saute until the raw aroma is gone.
  4. Add whisked curd (buttermilk) and salt. Stir continuously.
  5. Stir until the curd is combined well without getting to a boil. ( Note : Don't boil just make it hot ). Switch off the flame. Keep it aside.
  6. a small pan, heat 1 tbspn oil and splutter mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, dry redchilli, 1 greenchilli, few curry leaves and red chilli powder.
  7. Pour this into buttermilk and mix well. Close for 5 minutes and serve.
