ABOUT Prawns Pulav RECIPE

A recipe created by me! Prawns pulao is a rice delicacy in which rice is cooked with prawns. Prawns pulao recipe is easy and you can prepare it in less time. Prawns pulao is similar to chicken pulao and mutton pulao. The combination of rice and prawns will be an amazing experience for you. Prawns pulao is prepared with a lot of flavorful and aromatic spices. You can easily prepare Prawns pulao recipe at your home. Boil the rice and strain the water. Marinate the prawns with salt, garam masala, garlic paste and lemon juice. Fry the prawns in oil and prepare the delicious masala by using peppercorn, bay leaves, cinnamon, chopped onions, tomatoes, ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Add water to the masala, add rice to it and cook it for a couple of minutes. Garnish this Prawns pulao with coriander and mint leaves. It is an excellent meal to serve to your guests and you will definitely get a lot of compliments from them. You can serve this delicious and mouthwatering Prawns pulao with onion raita or any chutney of your choice.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1500 gm clean and deveined prawns
  2. 2 and 1/2 glass basmati rice
  3. 5 big sized onions, cut in julienne
  4. 6 big sized tomatoes
  5. 2 tsp chilli paste
  6. 3 tbsp garlic, minced
  7. 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  8. 3 tsp red chili powder
  9. 2 tsp garam masala
  10. 2 tsp turmeric
  11. 1 tsp black pepper
  12. 1 tsp cumin seed
  13. 4 green cardamoms
  14. 2 star anise
  15. 3 bay leafs
  16. 2 black cardamoms
  17. 1 stick cinnamon 2"
  18. 6 cloves
  19. 3 tbsp oil/ghee
  20. Salt as required
  21. Prawn marination ingredients:
  22. 2 tsp garlic paste
  23. 3 tsp lemon juice
  24. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  25. 1 tsp garam masala
  26. 2 tbsp oil or butter
  27. Salt to taste
  28. To garnish:
  29. 3 tbsp fried onion
  30. 2 tbsp mint
  31. A pinch of saffron
  32. 1 tbsp butter or ghee
  33. 1 tsp rose or kevra water

Instructions

  1. Peel the skin of the prawns and devein them. (You could take any size of prawns for this recipe.)
  2. Boil the rice 60 percent % and strain the water. Keep it aside.
  3. Now marinate the prawns with salt, garam masala, garlic paste, lemon juice and keep it aside.
  4. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan. Keep the gas on a low flame, add the oil and saute the cloves, peppercorn, bay leaves, cinnamon and green cardamom.
  5. Next add the chopped onion and green chilies. Saute until the onions become dark brown in color, roughly for about 5 to 7 mins on a low flame. Add ginger-garlic paste to it along with the tomato, dry spices and cook till the raw smell is gone.
  6. Add 2 glasses of water and boil it, as it is boiling add in the rice.
  7. On a high flame, heat oil in another heavy bottomed pan, add the prawns and cook till the prawn color changes.
  8. Next, add the prawns into the rice and mix properly. Garnish on top with fried onion, garam masala, mint and red chilli powder.
  9. Sprinkle saffron, kewra water, butter or ghee on top. Cover with a lid and give dum until it's done.
  10. Cook this on dum for 20 minutes.
  11. Serve it with raita.
