ABOUT Instant Solkadhi RECIPE

Solkadhi is a coastal cool drink made with kokum ( mangosteen family) and coconut milk. It is a soothing digestive drink which can be relished after a spicy meal. Traditionally as per the Goan or Malvani legacy, one has to extract milk for fresh coconut which is the most tedious precedure. To easen out the things, I have used readymade coconut milk which comes in tetrapacks and have used kokum syrup which you can get in nearby supermarkets. With this instant recipe, you can make the refreshing drink in no time.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Coconut milk packet 1
  2. Kokum syrup/sarbat 5 teaspoon
  3. sugar 1 teaspoon
  4. Black salt/ Saindhav to taste
  5. Garlic 5 cloves
  6. Green chilly 1
  7. Ginger very small piece (optional)
  8. Coriander leaves: for garnishing
  9. Water to dilute
  10. Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Pound ginger, garlic, green chilly in mortal and pestle to a coarse paste. I like ginger in solkadhi. If you do not wish, you can avoid ginger.
  2. Add this paste in a vessel, add kokum syrup, coriander leaves, sugar, salt, cumin powder.
  3. Add coconut milk and mix well
  4. Add water to make is desired dilution. I have added 3/4th cup water.
  5. Mix well. Adjust salt and sugar as per taste and serve chilled.
