Ingredients to make Instant Jalebis (without fermentation)

  • Plain flour or Maida 1 cup
  • Corn flour 2 tsp
  • Gram flour or Besan 1 tsp
  • Dry yeast 1/2 tsp
  • yogurt about 3 tbsp
  • saffron colour/ Yellow colour/ Red colour- a pinch or two (You can add any colour of your choice.)
  • Water 3/4 th cup to make the batter (It depends on the quality of the flour. You could require only 1/2 a cup.)
  • oil for frying
  • For the sugar syrup:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • water 3/4 th cup
  • cardamom powder 1/2 tsp

How to make Instant Jalebis (without fermentation)

  1. Prepare a thick but flowing batter out of all the ingredients.
  2. Heat the oil and make the swirls in a clockwise fashion. (The oil should be hot and keep the flame medium to low.)
  3. As soon as you fry them. Start dipping each one in the hot sugar syrup for a minute or so, then remove on a serving plate.
  4. Serve them hot with cream or rabri or just as it is.

My Tip:

The batter should be flowing. It should not be too watery or too thick.
