Carrot Rice

Ingredients to make Carrot Rice

  • carrots - 1/2 kg
  • rice - 2 1/2 cups
  • water - 5 to 5 1/2 cups
  • green chillies - 4
  • cloves - 3
  • Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  • Green peas - 1/2 cup
  • onions - 2
  • ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  • salt as per taste
  • oil - 2 tbsp
  • ghee 1 tbsp

How to make Carrot Rice

  1. Wash and grate carrots and keep aside.
  2. Wash rice and keep aside.
  3. Add oil and ghee to a deep sauce pan.
  4. Add in the broken green chillies.
  5. Add in the onions and cloves.
  6. Stir fry till transparent. Add in the ginger garlic paste.
  7. Saute for a minute, add green peas and grated carrots
  8. Add the garam masala powder, turmeric and salt.
  9. Mix well and cover for a few minutes. Open and add the washed rice. Stir it a few times. Let it come to a boil.
  10. Adjust the salt as per taste. Cover and cook till done. This should take 15 minutes, serve hot.
