Ingredients to make Coconut jaggery idli

  • coconut grated 2 cups
  • jaggery 250 gms
  • wheat flour 2 cups
  • cardamom powder 1 tsp
  • salt to taste

How to make Coconut jaggery idli

  1. Take a kadai. Add 2 cups of water. Add Jaggery and heat till the jaggery melts. No need to wait for string consistency.
  2. Turn off the flame and cool the mixture. Sieve it in a strainer to remove any sand or dust particles in the jaggery.
  3. Divide the mixture into two equal portions.
  4. Take one portion in a vessel. Add little salt and add wheat flour and make a batter of idli batter consistency. Keep it aside.
  5. Now take a kadai. Add the remaining portion and boil it for 5 minutes and add grated coconut and saute till it blends well. Then add cardamom powder. The mixture should not be hard. It should be like carrot halwa consistency. This is the sweet stuffing.
  6. Take idli moulds greased with ghee. Add little wheat batter and spread a little. Then add little stuffing on it. Cover it with idli batter. Repeat the same for remaining moulds too.
  7. Take idli container and steam these idlis for 15 minutes.
  8. Serve hot with butter.
