Ingredients to make Cake Rusk

  • Powdered sugar - 1 cup
  • all purpose flour - 1 cup
  • eggs - 4
  • butter - 1 cup
  • Tutti frooti - 1/4 cup totally (optional)
  • Baking powder - 1 1/2 tsp
  • Vanilla essence - 1 tbsp
  • Yellow food colour - 1/4 tsp

How to make Cake Rusk

  1. Grease a cake tin and dust the flour all over it and keep aside.
  2. Pre heat the oven at 180 degree centigrade for 10 minutes.
  3. In a bowl sieve flour and baking powder.
  4. In a separate bowl add sugar, vanilla essence, butter and yellow food colour. Whisk it until smooth and creamy.
  5. Add 1 egg and 1 tbsp of flour one by one at a time and whisk until all 4 eggs are added. Add the remaining flour and again whisk it properly.
  6. Add tutti frooti if you want to. Otherwise you can make plain as in bakeries.
  7. Add the batter in the cake tin and spread it evenly by shaking it.
  8. Bake it for 25-30 minutes at 180 or until properly baked. Check it with a toothpick.
  9. Let it cool, then cut 1/2 inch slices in the tray itself. Cut with a knife.
  10. Let it cool completely and again preheat the oven for 15 minutes.
  11. In a baking tray, cover it with foil paper from inside and now keep the cake slices all over it.
  12. Bake it for minimum 10 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispier. So keep checking in between.
