ABOUT Cucumber Raita Mangalore style RECIPE

A tasty accompaniment which can be prepared in a jiffy. It is popularly known as masooru sasive.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Cucumber 1 big
  2. Coconut fresh grated 2 tbsp
  3. Green chilli 1
  4. Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp + 1/4 tsp
  5. Oil 1 tsp
  6. Asafoetida a pinch
  7. Curry leaves a few
  8. Yoghurt or curd 1/2 cup
  9. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel and cut the cucumber into small pieces.
  2. Grind coconut, green chilli and half a teaspoon of mustard seeds to a paste.
  3. Make seasoning. Take oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, as they crackle, remove and put the curry leaves and asafoetida.
  4. Take a bowl. Add the cucumber pieces, ground paste, salt and seasoning.
  5. Whisk the curds and mix it in the bowl of ingredients.
  6. Serve with hot rice along with a dollop of ghee.
