ABOUT Surmai Fish fry RECIPE

Surmai fish fry in our special masala. We make special fish masala and store it so it is easy to use. We use this masala in fish gravy also.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Surmai fish 10 pieces cleaned and cut pieces
  2. For fish masala powder:
  3. Whole red chillies 10
  4. 1 tbsp whole zeera
  5. 1 tbsp whole corriander
  6. 1/4 tsp saunf whole
  7. 1/4 tsp whole rai
  8. For marination:
  9. Fish masala powder 1 1/2 tbsp full
  10. Salt 1/2 tsp
  11. Turmeric powder 1 small tsp
  12. Juice of half a lemon
  13. Water 2 tbsp
  14. Oil 1 tbsp (for marination)
  15. Oil for frying


  1. For fish masala powder: Roast all the ingredients together and grind them all together.
  2. For marination: In fish pieces add fish masala powder, salt, turmeric powder, oil, lemon juice, water and marinate. Keep in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, shallow fry the fish until cooked. Serve hot.
