Semolina sweet khichdi

Ingredients to make Semolina sweet khichdi

  • semolina/ Khandva rava(little coarse variety of rava) - 1 cup
  • chana dal 1 cup
  • Grated coconut 1 cup
  • jaggery - 9 pieces( approx. 200gms)
  • cardamom powder 1 tsp
  • Ghee roasted cashewnuts - a handful
  • ghee 1 tsp

How to make Semolina sweet khichdi

  1. Dry roast chana dal in a kadai for about 4 minutes, cool it and wash it and pressure cook for 5 minutes. Please take care not to burn the chana dal during roasting.
  2. Take a kadai. Add jaggery and 1 cup water. Heat till the jaggery melts. Then sieve it to remove impurities, if any.
  3. Now add this jaggery again to the kadai and boil it only for 5 minutes.(No need to wait for string consistency).
  4. Then add cooked chana dal, semolina and grated coconut. Add little ghee. Simmer it and saute till everything blends well.
  5. Add cardamom powder and mix well. Switch off the flame.
  6. Transfer the contents to a greased plate and garnish with cashewnuts.
  7. Cut into desired shapes, once cooled.

My Tip:

Switch off the flame immediately once the contents mix well. The mixture should not be too hard. You can add ghee if the contents become dry.
