Sama rice idli with sambhar for navratri

Ingredients to make Sama rice idli with sambhar for navratri

  • Sama rice 2 cup
  • sago 2 tbsp
  • bottle gourd- a little
  • tamarind- a little
  • red chilli dry 2-3 in number
  • cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • oil
  • rock salt as per required
  • jaggery a tsp

How to make Sama rice idli with sambhar for navratri

  1. Soak rice and sago separately for 4-5 hours.
  2. Then drain the water mix both of them and grind them in a mixer together.
  3. Add little curd about 1/2 cup for fermentation and mix properly.
  4. Keep it for 5-6 hours.
  5. Now prepare idli in idli maker for 10-15 minutes.
  6. You can add a pinch of soda if you are finding that your batter is not properly raised.
  7. For sambhar I have prepared normal lauki gravy sabzi in cooker with turmeric powder,red chilli powder, water and rock salt.
  8. Soak tamarind and take out pulp.
  9. Roast peanuts and crush them a little.
  10. For tempering add little oil in pan add cumin seeds red chilli dry; peanuts; tamarind pulp; little jaggery and little water
  11. Add it to the lauki gravy, your sambhar is ready.
