Chironji ki Dal

Ingredients to make Chironji ki Dal

  • 1/2 cup chironji (charoli seeds) - soaked in luke warm water for 1 hour
  • 2 Tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seed
  • 2 Green cardamoms
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 2 green chillies-slit
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp rock salt to raste
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder(if desired)
  • 2 tomatoes ( puree)
  • 1 boiled potato chopped (optional
  • coriander leaves to garnish

How to make Chironji ki Dal

  1. Rub the seeds to remove the husk, discard the husk.
  2. Heat ghee, add cumin and cardamoms . Saute a little, add the ginger- tomato puree.
  3. When the oil separates, add coriander, salt, chilli powder and green chillies.
  4. Saute further, add the chironji and turn around to mix well. Add enough water to come up to about 2 cm above the mixture and bring to a boil.
  5. Simmer till the chironji is cooked through. Chirongi will be puffed up and its raw smell will disappear .
  6. Add boiled potato and cook for 5-7 mins. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.

My Tip:

You can add veggies according to your choice.
