Papaya Halwa

Ingredients to make Papaya Halwa

  • 1 medium sized papaya
  • 1/2 bowl sugar
  • Few pieces of raisins
  • 10 to 12 slivered almonds
  • Few melon seeds
  • 1 tea spoon crushed cardamoms
  • 1/2 glass of water
  • 2 tablespoon ghee

How to make Papaya Halwa

  1. Peel papaya and cut in to small pieces.
  2. With water, boil it for 2 whistles in a cooker.
  3. Turn off the flame.
  4. Once cool, open the lid, mash papaya with ladle and begin to cook again till all the water dries up.
  5. When it is 75 percent done, add sugar with cardamoms and raisins.
  6. Mix it nicely, cook for few minutes or till you get the thick consistency of halwa.
  7. Then drop ghee and almonds too in the centre of the cooker.
  8. Roast almonds in ghee, mix it with ladle.
  9. Cook for a while to mix all the ingredients properly.
  10. Serve hot with melon seeds.

My Tip:

Boil papaya with little water otherwise it may burn.
