Daal Tadka

Ingredients to make Daal Tadka

  • Toor Daal - 1 Cup
  • onion - 1 Chopped finely
  • green chilly - 2 nos (Finely chopped)
  • garlic - 5-6 cloves crush it
  • ginger - 1 inch piece chopped finely
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  • Cummin Seeds - 1 tsp
  • ghee as required
  • Red Chillies - 3 break in 1 pieces
  • salt to taste
  • Kasuri methi - 1 tsp
  • coriander leaves for garnishing

How to make Daal Tadka

  1. Boil daal in pressure cooker until 2 whistles.
  2. Heat non stick pan, pour some ghee, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and allow it to splutter. Add onion, green chillies, garlic, ginger and red chillies, fry until it turns brown in color.
  3. Add Kasuri methi and little coriander leaves and fry for another 2 mins.
  4. Remove from fire and pour this tadka in boiled daal.
  5. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or chapatis.

My Tip:

Green chillies are optional, you can add if you need your daal to be spicy. You can add tomato if required. I have not used tomato in this recipe.
