ABOUT Healthy Moong Dal soup for babies(8 months+) RECIPE

This satiating soup is loaded with vitamin A from carrots and proteins from moong dal, which team up to improve your child's vision.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1/4 cup Moong dal (soak for 30 mins)
  2. 1/4 tsp Freshly grated Ginger
  3. 1 tsp ghee
  4. 1/4 tsp zeera
  5. 1-2 cups of Water
  6. 1/4 cup Chopped vegetables (carrot/lauki)
  7. A pinch of pepper powder
  8. A pinch of ajwain
  9. Salt as needed
  10. A pinch of turmeric

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cumin and let it pop.
  2. Add ginger and saute lightly.
  3. Add washed and soaked dal.
  4. Fry for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the finely chopped vegetables and saute.
  6. Add in the water, ajwain, turmeric and salt. Close the lid, cook for 4-5 whistles.
  7. Let the pressure drop on its own.
  8. Mash down the dal and veggies well, adjust the amount of water and serve in a bowl.
  9. Soup should be watery for small babies, can be thicker for older ones.

Why is dal not advisable while baby is unwell? My 10 month old baby has got seasonal cold, cough n fever. But since he likes salty food, I'm giving him dal once a day. Please let me know.

The soup looks green but you had said "moong dal"...is is the moong we make pulses out of or the dal used in curry's and khichdi?
