Gulab Jamun

Ingredients to make Gulab Jamun

  • 100 grams of fresh paneer( Indian cottage cheese)
  • 250 grams of khoya.(similar to ricotta cheese but lower in moisture)
  • 500 grams of sugar and water (I prefer less sweet you can increase sugar according to taste).
  • 3 tbsp of all purpose flour.
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder.
  • 3 table spoon chopped nuts (I used almonds and cashews).
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder.
  • ghee for deep frying.

How to make Gulab Jamun

  1. In a plate combine paneer, khoya all purpose flour and baking soda till they are well combined and form soft dough.
  2. Divide the dough in equal sized gulab jamun balls and stuff inside each balls little chopped nuts.
  3. Make sure there are no cracks in them. Deep fry them in medium heat till golden brown. Keep aside.
  4. Now for the syrup boil water and sugar till one string consistency and add in cardamom powder and remaining powdered nuts.
  5. When its still warm add in fried gulab jamuns. Let them soak for a while. Enjoy them when they are still warm.
