Hot Honey Paneer

Ingredients to make Hot Honey Paneer

  • Paneer (cottage cheese) 250 grams
  • onion 1 big sized
  • capsicum 1 medium sized
  • tomato sauce 3 tablespoons
  • Soya sauce 1 tablespoon
  • honey 3 tablespoons
  • cornflour 3 tablespoons
  • Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili paste 2 tablespoons (optional)
  • oil 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable stock 2 cups
  • red chilli flakes 1 tablespoon
  • salt to taste
  • Chopped spring onion 1 tablespoon (for garnishing)

How to make Hot Honey Paneer

  1. Make a semi-thick paste by mixing the cornflour, water and salt together. Also cut the paneer into square shapes.
  2. Roll the paneer into the cornflour paste so that the paste coats the paneer perfectly.
  3. Heat sufficient oil in a pan and deep fry the paneer pieces till they become light brown in colour.
  4. Cut the onion into separate layers. Also cut the capsicum into square shapes.
  5. Mix the tomato sauce, soya sauce, honey, black pepper powder, red chilli paste very well together in a bowl.
  6. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan, then add in the chopped garlic in it and stir fry for half a minute. Then add in the chopped onion, capsicum and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  7. Add the mixed sauce and spices into it. Mix it very well and cook for 1 minute.
  8. Now add the vegetables stock and cook on a high heat for 2-3 minutes. Mix 1 tablespoon of cornflour with water and pour this mixture into the gravy.
  9. Cook for another couple of minutes till the gravy becomes thick. Then add in the fried paneer and cook on a medium heat for 1-2 minutes so that the gravy coats the paneer perfectly.
  10. Spread some chopped spring onion and red chilli flakes into it and serve it hot with fried rice or noodles.

My Tip:

Instead of tomato sauce you can use any hot sauce or schezwan sauce.
