ABOUT Whole Fish in Hot Sauce RECIPE

Crispy fried basa or bhetki fish cooked in a spicy gravy of crunchy vegetables.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Whole fish of 500 grams or 1 whole
  2. Sesame oil 2 tablespoon
  3. Sliced onions 1
  4. Chopped ginger 1 teaspoon
  5. Chopped garlic 1 teaspoon
  6. Sliced capsicum 1 small
  7. Shredded chinese cabbage 1/2 cup
  8. Sweet corn nibble 2 tablespoon
  9. Lime slice 2
  10. Chinese cooking wine 1/2 cup
  11. Red chilli 10
  12. Vinegar 2 tablespoons
  13. Hoisin sauce 2 teaspoon
  14. Soysauce 1 teaspoon
  15. Chopped spring onions for garnish
  16. Chopped green chilli 2
  17. Chopped tomato for garnish
  18. Salt to taste
  19. Pepper powder to taste
  20. Sugar 1 teaspoon
  21. Sesame seeds little for sprinkling
  22. Corn flour starch slurry 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Marinate the whole fish after cleaning it from inside with salt for 30 minutes.
  2. Soak 7 to 8 of red chilies in water for 15 minutes and make a paste with vinegar.
  3. Heat the sesame oil add fry the whole fish to golden crispy texture.
  4. In the remaining oil add chopped garlic and chopped ginger and fry.
  5. Add the sliced onions and capsicum and mix well.
  6. Add the sugar, red chilli paste, hoisin sauce, soysauce, salt to taste.
  7. Mix everything well and add 2 cups of water and boil.
  8. Add the pepper powder.
  9. Add the fish.
  10. Add the chinese wine and cook.
  11. Add the corn starch slurry.
  12. Add chopped green chilly.
  13. Add the shredded Chinese cabbage and lime slices.
  14. When the sauce thickens transfer to a serving plate.
  15. Now garnish with chopped spring onions, chopped tomato, chopped red chilli, sweet corn nibble.
  16. Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top.
