Oats Bhurji

Ingredients to make Oats Bhurji

  • About 1 cup cooking oats
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 medium size finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup boiled peas
  • 1/2 tbsp salt or as required
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped or shredded carrots
  • 1 medium size finely chopped tomato
  • 1 finely chopped green chili
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice or as required
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Some peanuts for garnishing (optional)

How to make Oats Bhurji

  1. Take a pan and roast the oats for 2 minutes on medium gas. Now take roasted oats in the plate.
  2. Use same pan Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. When oil is hot add mustard seeds, After few seconds add green chili. After few seconds add onion and bell pepper. Stir it for 1 minute. Then add salt and turmeric powder.
  3. Add peas, carrots and tomato and cover with lid. Stir for 2-3 minutes on medium gas or until vegetables become tender.
  4. Now add oats and 1/2 cup water and cover it and cook it for 2-3 minutes on medium low gas. Turn off the gas. Add cilantro and lemon juice. cover with lid. Garnish with peanuts
  5. Oats bhurji is ready . Serve hot with Parantha or chapati. Enjoy lunch

My Tip:

You can add vegetables of your choice. Adjust spices as per your taste. It is really healthy and yummy in taste.
