ABOUT Tricolour Rice RECIPE

Orange colour rice with tomatoes is tangy green colour spinach flavoured rice is soothing while white rice tinged with cumin seeds is simple. This is a perfect recipe for kids tiffin box.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Basmati rice 1 cup
  2. For Orange rice-
  3. Desi ghee 2 tblsp
  4. Ginger paste 1 teaspoon
  5. Tomato puree 1/4 cup
  6. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  8. Salt to taste
  9. For White rice -
  10. Cooked basmati rice 1 cup.
  11. For green rice.
  12. Ghee 2 tblsp
  13. Ginger paste 1 teaspoon.
  14. Spinach puree 1/2 cup
  15. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tbsp ghee in two different nonstick pans.
  2. Add cumin seeds to one pan and saute till seeds begain to change colour.
  3. Add rice and mix .Add cumin seeds to the second pan and saute till they begain to change colour.
  4. Add ginger paste, red chilli powder to the first pan and saute.
  5. Add tomatoes puree salt and mix well.Add 1 cup water and mix. cover and cook till the rice is done
  6. Add turmeric powder to the second pan and mix well. Add green chilli paste ginger paste and salt and saute lightly.
  7. Add 1/2cup water and mix well .cover and cook .
  8. When water start boiling add spinach puree mix well cover and cook till the rice is done
  9. Place a ring mould in the serving plate .put green rice in the mould and press lightly
  10. Add cooked white rice and press lightly.Top it with the Orange rice and press lightly.
  11. Remove the ring mould slowly and serve.
