ABOUT Puspitha/ Chawal ka Pitha Stuffed with Jaggery RECIPE

This dessert is made in pausha(winter) month of hindi calender in Bihar. It gives heat and energy to our body.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice flour 2 cup
  2. Water 2 cup
  3. Jaggery 1 1/2 cup
  4. Mawa(crumbled) 1 1/2 cup
  5. Roasted peanuts 1/2 cup
  6. Milk 2 liter
  7. Elaichi 2 no.

Instructions

  1. Take a deep pan and pour 2 cups of water wait till it starts boiling and then add rice flour mix well and keep aside
  2. Prepare the filling
  3. Crumble mawa and mix elaichi in it and crumble jaggery also. Roast peanuts and remove skin
  4. Now set the milk to boil. In the meantime, make dough with the mixture
  5. Divide the dough into equal parts of small balls
  6. Take 1 piece of dough and give it the shape of small bowl with your hands and fill it with mawa, peanuts and jaggery.
  7. Now gentle press with hands and close the pitha and similarly make all the pitha
  8. Put 3-4 pithas in boiling milk to boil at a time according to the size of utensil and keep them boiling for 5-6 min
  9. Do same for all pitha and keep in a plate
  10. The milk should reduce to half its original quantity
  11. Carefully drop pithas into the thickened milk. Serve
