ABOUT Fried Squid RECIPE

This dish is just delectable. You can't resist gobbling bowls of steaming rice or rotis, if you have this side dish. The recipe is not so complicated, but you need to get the squid perfectly cooked. Cleaning the squid is also not that difficult. Infact, it is interesting to clean them without breaking the inkpot within them ;) Here is how to make this delicious dish.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Squid (cleaned & cut) – 1 cup
  2. Onion (chopped) – 1/2
  3. Ginger garlic paste – 1 and 1/2 tbsp
  4. Red chilli powder – 3 tsp
  5. Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
  6. Water – 2 cups
  7. Salt – as required
  8. Coconut oil – 4 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Pressure cook the squid for 10 minutes with salt, 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and 3/4 tbsp ginger garlic paste. You may have to adjust the cooking time based on the size and type of squid.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Saute the onions until they just turn pink and soft.
  3. Now add in the remaining ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes off.
  4. Next, add the remaining turmeric powder and red chilli powder. Mix well.
  5. Add the cooked squid and coat with the masala nicely.
  6. Check salt and add accordingly.
  7. Let the squid fry in the oil for about 5 minutes.
  8. Stir in between, so that all the sides are fried equally.
  9. Devour this yummilicious squid fry with appam, roti or even rice.
