ABOUT Palak Tadka RECIPE

A very delicious Indian curry recipe made with spinach and garlic flavour with very few spices. The taste is very yummy with rice. You can enjoy it like soup also.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Spinach 1 bunch washed and clean
  2. Onion 1 finely chopped
  3. Ginger 1tsp finely chopped
  4. Garlic cloves 1 tsp finely chopped
  5. Green chillies 2 finely chopped
  6. Oil - 2 tbsp
  7. Tomato - 1/2 cup finely chopped
  8. Tamarind- 2 pieces
  9. Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  10. Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  11. Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  12. Water - 1/2 cup
  13. Salt - to taste
  14. Kasoori methi - 1/2 tsp
  15. For Garlic Tadka
  16. Garlic cloves 4 roughly crushed
  17. Ghee 1 tsp
  18. Jeera 1 tsp
  19. Curry leaves 1 tsp
  20. Green chilli 1 cut into slit

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a kadai. Once hot add chopped ginger, garlic,onion and green chilies and saute for a minute.
  2. Now season with some salt. Cook till they become translucent.
  3. Then add chopped spinach and cook for 2 minutes till they get soft.
  4. Let it cool a bit and grind it into smooth puree using little water. Spinach pure is ready.
  5. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in the same kadai. Once hot add tomatoes. Cook till it becomes soft.
  6. Then add cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt.
  7. Mix it well and cook for minute. Add pureed spinach and water as per your requirement and mix it well.
  8. Let it come to a boil. Once it starts to boil add tamarind and stir gently.
  9. Add kasoori methi and mix. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes. Switch off the gas and keep aside.
  10. Take a tadka pan and add ghee. Once it get hot add jeera, garlic, chilli, curry leaves. Once every thing starts to splutter and cook then add the tadka on palak.
  11. Serve it with roti or steamed rice.
