Punjabi Samosa

Ingredients to make Punjabi Samosa

  • For cover-
  • all purpose flour (maida) 1 cup
  • water to knead dough
  • oil 2 tbsp
  • Little salt
  • Ajwain 1/4 tsp
  • For stuffing -
  • Boiled potatoes 3-4 peeled and mashed
  • Boiled green peas 1/2 cup
  • Green chilies finely chopped 1/2 tsp
  • Crushed ginger 1/2 tsp
  • coriander finely chopped 1 tbsp
  • Few chopped cashew nuts
  • Few raisins
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • red chilli powder to taste
  • Dry mango powder 1/2 tsp

How to make Punjabi Samosa

  1. For cover -
  2. Mix all the ingredients (salt,oil,ajwain)except water.
  3. Add a little water at a time .
  4. Pat and knead well for several times in to a soft pliable dough
  5. Cover it with moist muslin cloth and keep aside for 15 mins.
  6. For stuffing -
  7. In a bowl add mashed potatoes and all dry masalas ( salt, chili powder,garam masala ).
  8. Green chilli and ginger mix well
  9. Add green peas ,cashew and raisins and mix well.
  10. Add coriander and keep aside.
  11. To make samosas -
  12. Make small rolls of dough and roll it in to a circle.
  13. Cut it into two semi circles .
  14. Now take one semi circle and fold it like a cone
  15. Use water while doing .so place a spoon of filling in the cone and seal the third side using a drop of water .
  16. Heat oil in a kadhai and deep fry till golden brown ( fry on a medium flame ).
  17. Samosa serve hot with chutney.
