Kholhapuri Chicken

Ingredients to make Kholhapuri Chicken

  • 750 gms chicken
  • For paste -
  • 8-9 whole red chillies
  • 1tsp coriander seeds
  • 1tsp of cumin seeds
  • Spices ( 4-5 cloves, black pepper 2 green elaichi, 1 small piece of dalchini.)
  • 2 finely chopped onions
  • 6-7 cloves of garlic
  • 1 small piece of ginger.
  • 2 onions medium sized
  • 2 small sized tomatoes
  • 2 bay leaves
  • salt to taste
  • oil 1/4 cup
  • 1 tsp turmeric

How to make Kholhapuri Chicken

  1. For paste -
  2. Heat 2 tsp oil and red chilly and all the spices and once it's roasted keep it aside.
  3. In a pan take 2 tbsp of oil and chopped onion and once it turns brown add ginger and garlic and once it's fried add all this to roasted spice and add coconut to it and grind it to a paste.
  4. For cooking. Heat a pan add 3 tbsp of oil add bay leaves to it then add finely chopped onion once it turns brown add the tomatoes and allow the tomatoes to get cooked on slow gas and then add the paste. Add salt and turmeric powder to it and allow it to cook till the paste leaves oil.
  5. Add chicken to it and allow the chicken to get cooked in slow heat.
  6. Serve hot
