Ingredients to make Adadiya

  • Urad daal -500gms(coarsely ground)
  • wheat flour- 100gms
  • sugar-400gms
  • water- 2cups
  • ghee- 500gms+1cup
  • Milk-1cup
  • 2 tsp each ( elaichi,black pepper,dalchini,sunth,ganthoda powder)
  • 1 tbsp each (Dry fruits like cashew,almonds, pista)
  • Edible gum- 100gms
  • Dry coconut powder -200 gms

How to make Adadiya

  1. First mix both flours and add 1 cup ghee and milk. Brush it into the flours with both hands till it resembles bread crumbs.
  2. Keep this flour covered for 1 hour.
  3. After 1 hour sieve this mixture.Break all lumps.
  4. Heat ghee in a thick pan and add this flour.Start roasting at slow flame till it becomes brown in colour and you get a nice aroma of roasted flour.
  5. You can roast the edible gum before the flour if you like big pieces but as my family does not like gum to come in between while chewing,I crushed the gum and added it after my flour turned golden
  6. Add coconut powder and dry fruit pieces and spices Switch off the gas.
  7. Take sugar in another pan and add water. Make one and a half thread chashni.
  8. Add this chashni to our roasted flour mix and stir well.
  9. Pour into greased thali and press with a flat spatula to level it.
  10. Form cuts in diamond shape or squares and let it cool.
  11. After it cools remove and store in an airtight box.
  12. Give a piece with milk everyday to your family members.

My Tip:

Roast the flour on low heat. If you roast on high heat, it will burn and will still be raw
