ABOUT Wholemeal Flour Thin Crust Pizza RECIPE

My take on guilt free healthy thin crust pizza - Pizza base made with Wholemeal flour, and toppings included asparagus, red peppers, baby spinach, onion, black olives & low fat cream cheese. Cream cheese can be replaced with paneer. For spicy pizza add dried mixed herbs and chilly flakes in flour.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Chilly flakes little (for garnishing)
  2. For Pizza Base:
  3. Wholemeal flour 2cups
  4. Dry instant yeast 7grams (1.5tspn approximately)
  5. Sugar 1tspn
  6. Salt 1/2tspn
  7. Olive oil 2tbspn
  8. Warm water 3/4th cup
  9. Chilly flakes little
  10. Dried mixed herbs 1/2tspn
  11. For toppings:
  12. Asparagus, Red peppers, Baby spinach leaves, Onion, Pitted black olives slices and Low fat cream cheese [All the measurements are eye balled in this, so add toppings and their quantities according to personal choice].

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in 1/4th cup lukewarm to warm water. Add sugar and stir well. Place this in a warm place for 10minutes approximately. Let it bloom.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add flour salt and olive oil. Mix dry ingredients well. Then add yeast. Now add the remaining warm water little by little and knead till you get a soft dough.
  3. Cover dough for 40 minutes or till it doubles. Punch and remove the bubbles when you want to make the pizza base.
  4. Divide the dough to 3 or 4 portions. Keep them covered. In the meanwhile pre heat the oven to 200 degrees C, with the tray inside.
  5. Start working on the pizza base by rolling the dough on semolina instead of dry flour. The semolina brings extra crunch to the base. Roll out the dough thin and even.
  6. Remove the baking tray and place a baking sheet on the tray and then place the rolled out base. Bake for one minute. Remove and assemble the pizza by applying thin layer of pizza sauce. Start with the veggies and finally the cheese.
  7. Bake pizza at 220°C high for approximately 7 10 minutes or till the cheese starts getting light brown colour.
  8. Serve hot.
