ABOUT Easy Glazed Orange Cake RECIPE

A fluffy lightweight cake full of orange flavour, ideal for using the freash winter oranges. Pair this cake with the warm winter sun, your favourite book or simply pack in as tiffin.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. For the cake
  2. Sugar 1 1/2 cups
  3. Flour 2 cups
  4. Juice of two oranges(approximate 1/2 cup)
  5. Vegetable Oil 1/2 Cup
  6. 4 Eggs
  7. Baking powder 4 tsp
  8. Baking soda 1/2 tsp
  9. Orange zest 1 tbsp
  10. Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  11. For Glaze
  12. 1/4 cup orange juice
  13. 2 tsp sugar


  1. In a big bowl beat sugar and eggs untill fluffy and pale.
  2. Add vanilla and mix well.
  3. In another bowl, sieve the flour, baking powder and baking soda together.
  4. Add 1/3 of the flour mixture in the egg mixture and mix well. Then add another 1/3 and mix well. When adding the last 1/3 part flour mixture, add orange juice and zest.
  5. After the ingredients are well mixed, transfer to a pre-greased baking mould.
  6. In a pre-heated oven, bake for 35 minutes and check whether the cake is ready by inserting a clean knife. If not, increase the time for 5 more minutes.
  7. For Glazing Mix the sugar and orange juice.
  8. Prick the cake with a fork on top. Pour the glaze on the top of the cake and at the same time quickly spread that with a butter knife or back of a spoon.
  9. Slice and enjoy!
