Ingredients to make Rawa appam.

  • For the dough,
  • Wheat or all purpose flour 1/2 cup
  • ghee 1 tbsp
  • salt
  • water,enough to make dough.
  • For filling,
  • Rawa 6 tbsp
  • grated coconut 4 tbsp
  • sugar 2 1/2 tbsp
  • Crushed nuts 2 tbsp
  • Kismis 1tbsp
  • ghee 2 drops.
  • cardamom powder 2 pinch
  • oil to fry

How to make Rawa appam.

  1. Knead a soft dough with flour,ghee,salt and water. Keep aside.
  2. Heat a pan,add ghee,then add rawa,coconut and sugar. Fry well with out changing colour,till the mixture becomes a little smooth. Remove and Cool it. Then divide this into 4 portions. If the mixture tends to get a bit dry, then add some water or milk.
  3. Make 4 balls out of the dough .roll it into a small chappathi,put the filling in the middle,close the edges,seal well. Roll it like pori. Make 4 pooris ,the same way. Try to roll as thin as possible.
  4. Heat oil in a pan,deep fry one by one. Serve it hot.

My Tip:

We can use wheat flour also. Taste is the same. Crush the nuts well, otherwise it would be difficult to roll, thin.
