Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. For appam - 1 cup semolina
  2. 3/4 cup curd
  3. 1/2 tsp salt
  4. 1/2 cup water
  5. 2 tbsp coriander leaves
  6. 1/4 tsp baking soda
  7. 2 tbsp oil
  8. 1 tbsp ginger grated
  9. 1 tbsp chilli chopped
  10. 1 onion chopped
  11. 5 curry leaves finely chopped
  12. 1/2 cup roasted gram flour
  13. For tandoori appam - 1/2 tsp salt
  14. 1/2 tsp chat masala
  15. 2 tbsp kasoori methi
  16. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  17. 1/2 tsp black pepper
  18. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  19. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  20. 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  21. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  22. 4 tbsp yoghurt
  23. 3 tbsp oil
  24. 1 pcs charcoal
  25. 1 onion long cutting

Instructions

  1. For appam - in a bowl add semolina, curd, salt and mix well.
  2. Add ½ cup water and mix well.
  3. In a pan add oil heat it add ginger, onion saute for 2 minutes.
  4. Now add roasted onion, curry leaves, coriander leaves mix well.
  5. Rest for 20 minutes.
  6. After 20 minutes add baking soda mix well.
  7. Grease the appam pan with few drops of oil.
  8. Pour the semolina batter 1tbsp each.
  9. Cover with lid.
  10. Simmer 2 minutes. Half cooked roasted bottom flip over again simmer 2 minutes.
  11. Cooked completely.
  12. For tandoori appam - mix all ingredients except oil and charcoal.
  13. Now heat the oil and add hot oil in mixture.
  14. Mix well and marinate the all appam in it.
  15. Coating the appam properly.
  16. Now space in a center and place it little bit aluminium foil.
  17. Overthat place it hot charcol.
  18. Now pour ½ tsp ghee on charcoal and cover the bowl with plate.
  19. This will bring a very nice smoky flavor to tandoori appam. It is very difficult without tandoor.
  20. After 2 minutes remove the charcoal and foil as well.
  21. The tandoori appam are ready to cook them.
  22. Place a pan on a gas heat it up.
  23. Now place the appam, add 1 tsp oil on top. Mixing continuously cook for 2 minutes.
  24. Now place the appam in a mixing bowl. Some long cutting onion, coriander leaves, lemon juice and sprinkle chaat masala mix well.
  25. Now our tandoori appe are ready to serve.
