Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Ragi flour - 1 big cup
  2. Rice flour - 1/4 cup
  3. Grated coconut - 1 big cup
  4. Hot water - according to need
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Oil - 1 tspn ( to grease the idli plates and for the Idi-appam press)

  1. Take a pressure cooker and pour water in it for steaming purpose & heat it
  2. In the meantime take a bowl add the ragi flour, rice flour and salt...mix well....
  3. Now pour little boiling hot water and mix the flours carefully with a spoon...
  4. Then later....apply a few drops of oil on your palm and gently knead the flours to a soft dough and keep aside for a few minutes...
  5. Now take the Idi-appam press grease it with little oil ,put the steel ring with small holes inside through which we can see later strings coming out and put a big ball of kneaded ragi flour inside the Idi-appam press and close it....
  6. Carefully press the flour with the press to form long noodles shaped strings...or hoppers on the greased idli plates... This should be done in such a manner... that it looks like a small string open basket....:grinning:
  7. Similarly press the remaining kneaded flour balls....on the idli plates... Add little grated coconut on each Idi-appam....
  8. Steam them for a few minutes till nicely cooked....
  9. Serve hot with chutney or any curry or can be eaten with little sugar (if kids are having it ) Here's another click :heartpulse:
