Crunchy Prawns and Veggies

Ingredients to make Crunchy Prawns and Veggies

  • 2 Big onions, Sliced thinly
  • 1 Big potato, shredded
  • 1/2 Cup Purple cabbage, shredded ( any cabbage can be used )
  • 250 Gms Prawns, cleaned and cut into halves
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup corn flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp Paprika powder
  • 1 tsp pepper powder
  • salt to taste

How to make Crunchy Prawns and Veggies

  1. Take all the veggies ( onion, cabbage and potato ) in a bowl and add 1/2 cup of all purpose flour.
  2. Mix well and add the chopped prawns followed by 1 cup of flour, corn flour, salt, paprika powder and pepper powder.
  3. Mix well so that the flour gets coated well with the veggies and prawns.
  4. Now add the remaining flour along with baking soda and mix well.
  5. The combined mixture should not have moisture. ( Do not add water to the mixture ).
  6. Heat sufficient oil in a pan for deep frying and evenly drop the prawn - veggies mixture in a hot oil.
  7. Deep fry till the prawn and veggies gets crispy in a medium flame.
  8. Once done, remove and drain out the excess oil using kitchen tissue / towel.
  9. Repeat the process for the remaining mixture.
  10. Serve it hot by adding little lemon juice, chaat masala and mint leaves.

My Tip:

Add flour little by little to remove the moisture from veggies and prawns. In addition, this also helps to get a crunchy texture.
