Ingredients to make Whole Wheat Cheesy Pinwheels

  • wheat flour 1 1/2 cups (preferably measuring cup)
  • Warm milk 1/4 th cup
  • yeast 1 tbsp
  • Melted butter 1 tbsp
  • salt 1 tsp
  • Nigella seeds 1 tsp
  • For the filling:
  • Mozzarella cheese 1 cup
  • Parsley or coriander leaves chopped 2 to 3 tbsp
  • salt 1/2 tsp
  • black pepper powder 1 tsp
  • sesame seeds for garnishing
  • A small egg ; beaten

How to make Whole Wheat Cheesy Pinwheels

  1. Combine all the ingredients for making the dough adding the yeast. For the yeast mix, add it along with sugar to the warm milk and leave it aside to prove for 5 mins.
  2. Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm place to double. Apply a little oil on the dough and as well as the container before covering it up.
  3. After 2 hours, you are good to go. Punch down the dough to release the excess of air and roll out into a rectangular shape.
  4. You can add any cheese of your choice.
  5. Fold down the dough to shape it as a log and cut down into 1 inch thickness rolls or pinwheels. Set them aside again for 30 mins for double proofing.
  6. Beat an egg till it's pale yellow and fluffy ; brush this all over the pinwheels and sprinkle some sesame seeds on top .
  7. Bake them in a preheated oven on 180 degrees for 20 to 25 mins.
