ABOUT Pinwheel puri RECIPE

An easy and savoury recipe to include green leafy vegetables in diets of little tykes.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Whole wheat flour 2 bowls
  2. Spinach 1/2 kg
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Asafoetida a pinch
  5. Chopped green chilli 1
  6. Finely Chopped ginger 1 inch piece
  7. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Chop and boil spinach in pressure cooker till one whistle. Let it cool. Make its puree.
  2. Take one bowl wheat flour, add one tsp oil and a little salt. Add water and knead a soft dough.
  3. Take second bowl of flour. Add spinach puree, salt, asafoetida, one tsp oil chopped chilli and ginger (optional). Knead it to the dough of similar softness as the plain flour.
  4. Let both dough sit for about 45-50 min. After which Punch both dough again lightly and make small balls. Make lemon sized balls of both dough
  5. Roll both puris separately
  6. Place one above the other and roll it gently.
  7. Cut using a knife in equal sized balls.
  8. Press each ball lightly and roll again to a puri.
  9. Heat oil in a wok and deep fry on high flame. Serve hot with curd or pickle of your choice
